Mauritius selected Washington-based K&M Engineering and Consulting Corp to lead a team which will carry out a feasibility study into the development of a private power plant.
The proposed plant will be the first independent power project in the country. Mauritius has no indigenous fossil fuel sources and demand for power is growing at a rate of 8-10 per cent per annum.
The other members of the team involved in the study are Kuljian Corp and Servansingh Jadav & Partners Consulting Engineers Ltd. The feasibility study is being funded by the US Trade and Development Agency. It is due to be completed by the third quarter of this year.
