Senvion has won its first contract in India with a 102 MW order from clean energy company ReNew Power.

Senvion will supply 44 of its 2.3M120 wind turbines to the Bhuwad wind power project in Gujurat state. The project formed part of the round 2 tender held by the Solar Energy Corporation of India, part of the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

The Bhuwad wind power project is due to be commissioned in the next 12 months. The project scope includes a 10-year comprehensive operations and maintenance contract, Senvion said.

Jürgen Geissinger, CEO of Senvion, said that the contract award was a “milestone” for the company and was in line with the company’s plans to expand geographically.

“Senvion’s mission is to become a key player in the Indian renewable space and the ReNew contract is a major step towards that mission. We expect the installation by late 2018,” said Amit Kansal, CEO and Managing Director of Senvion India.
