Synera Renewable Energy Group (SRE Group) has chosen Siemens Gamesa to supply turbines for the 495 MW Formosa 4 offshore wind project off Taiwan’s west coast. The agreement covers 35 turbines rated at 14 MW each, to be manufactured at Siemens Gamesa’s nacelle factory in Taichung.

Formosa 4 was awarded capacity during Taiwan’s Phase 3 Zonal Development auction in 2022 and secured its establishment permit in 2024, the first among its auction round peers to do so. Once operational, it is expected to generate electricity for about 500,000 households annually.

The project builds on a long-standing partnership between SRE and Siemens Gamesa, following collaboration on Formosa 1, the country’s first offshore wind farm, and Formosa 2, which was the first of Taiwan’s Phase 2 projects to reach operation.

With Formosa 4, SRE is advancing its position as one of Taiwan’s leading offshore wind developers, while Siemens Gamesa continues to expand its role in the growing Taiwanese offshore market, reinforcing its local supply chain presence through nacelle assembly in Taichung.
