Eco Wave Power Global AB has announced progress on its wave energy project at Suao Port in Taiwan after its local partner secured a land lease for the site.
I-Ke International Ocean Energy Co., a subsidiary of Lian Tat Company, signed the lease agreement with Suao Port in December 2025. The agreement covers a five-year term with an option to extend and allows the project to move into its next development phase.
Under the agreement, an application to transfer land use rights must be submitted to Taiwan International Ports Corporation by March 22, 2026. All required port work permits are expected by October 2026.
The project forms part of Eco Wave Power’s expansion into the Asia-Pacific region and aims to demonstrate the use of locally manufactured wave energy systems in new markets.
“We believe the signing of the land lease agreement for the Suao Port project represents an important milestone in advancing Eco Wave Power’s presence in the Asia-Pacific market,” Inna Braverman, Founder and CEO of Eco Wave Power, said. “Taiwan is actively investing in renewable energy solutions, and we are excited to progress this project together with our partner I-Ke and demonstrate how wave energy can be integrated into existing port infrastructure to produce clean electricity.”
CY Huang, Chairman of I-Ke, added: “We are pleased to advance the Suao Port wave energy project and strengthen our collaboration with Eco Wave Power. Taiwan is committed to expanding its renewable energy portfolio, and we believe wave energy can play an important role in supporting the country’s clean energy transition. The signing of the land lease agreement marks an important step toward bringing this innovative technology to Taiwan.”
I-Ke was previously awarded the land use tender by Suao Port Company for a wave energy pilot station. The Keelung Branch of Taiwan Port Corporation allocated 6.75 hectares on the southern outer breakwater for testing, divided into three zones. I-Ke secured exclusive rights to Zone C following a selection process completed in July 2025.
Eco Wave Power and I-Ke plan to deploy a 100 kW onshore wave energy conversion unit at the site under a turnkey agreement signed in late 2024.
The companies said further updates will be provided as the project progresses.
