Innogy is to provide computer software and technical expertise to eight power stations in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi under a $1.4 million contract. Working with Logica, the company will provide electronic dispatch and logging systems for the Transco load dispatch centre in Abu Dhabi and at eight power plants throughout the Emirate. The work is being undertaken in conjunction with the recently announced $1.68 billion Shuweihat S1 power and desalination development to be built by CMS Energy and International Power for the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority.

The software will be based on technology developed by Innogy and used in the UK market. Work is due to start immediately with installation in seven of the eight sites scheduled to be completed by September 2003.

The final system will be installed in the new Shuweihat power station when that is completed.
