Greencoat UK Wind and Vattenfall have sealed a partnership to build the 240 MW South Kyle wind farm in the UK.

Under the partnership agreement, Greencoat UK Wind will acquire the wind farm on its completion. Vattenfall will build the project and will manage it for a minimum of ten years.

Vattenfall will also purchase power from the wind farm for 15 years. It will start construction “once it is safe to do so” in line with UK government guidance on Covid-19, it said in a statement.

South Kyle will consist of 50 Nordex N133 4.8 MW turbines with tip heights of 149.5 m installed in south-west Scotland, east of Ayr.

Vattenfall said it is continuously monitoring precautions concerning COVID-19 and currently plan for the wind farm to be operational Q1 2023. It had earlier been slated for 2022 delivery.
