The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) has formed the Brazilian Offshore Wind Coalition (CEM) in Brasília, bringing together developers Ocean Winds, Ming Yang Smart Energy, Windar Brasil, and marine‑services firm Oceanica to accelerate offshore wind in Brazil. The coalition aims to build a new clean‑energy frontier by aligning industry, government, and civil society around a common roadmap.
CEM will focus on sharing high‑quality data and analysis, promoting transparency, and fostering continuous dialogue with local communities as Brazil moves towards large‑scale offshore wind deployment. GWEC Brazil Policy Director Roberta Cox said the coalition is designed to help create the conditions for offshore wind to grow in a structured, transparent, and sustainable way, at a time when the country is finalising its regulatory framework and gearing up for its first auctions.
Brazil’s offshore wind potential is vast, with studies pointing to technical resources exceeding 1,000 GW along the Atlantic coast and more than 100 projects already in the pipeline. The new coalition is expected to support the country’s efforts to develop a domestic supply chain, attract investment, and use offshore wind both to meet domestic demand and to support green‑hydrogen and export‑oriented industries.
