Hitachi Energy has delivered the Ulinda Park battery energy storage system in Queensland, Australia, and will now support it through power converters and a 20-year HMAX Energy service agreement with developer and operator Akaysha Energy. The project is rated at 155 MW / 298 MWh and is already participating in Australia’s National Electricity Market, including Frequency Control Ancillary Services (FCAS).

Ulinda Park, located in Queensland’s Western Downs region, is designed to improve grid stability, firm renewable generation and provide fast response in a more dynamic electricity system. Hitachi Energy supplied the complete technical solution, including power conversion, control technology, factory testing, commissioning and regulatory integration support needed for market entry.

The new service agreement is intended to ensure reliable performance across the system’s full lifecycle.

Hitachi Energy’s HMAX Energy is an AI-powered suite of services providing monitoring, predictive insights, preventive maintenance and 24/7 support, helping customers plan, predict and prevent disruptions while maintaining compliance and availability.

Akaysha Energy says Ulinda Park is already delivering fast frequency response and energy shifting in the NEM, helping system stability and giving the operator flexibility to respond to market signals. The company says the standardised platform and long-term services approach will support future expansion.
