The new combined-cycle unit will have the largest capacity in Moscow with 420 MWe 265 Gcal/h th.

It is the first time in Russia’s electric power sector that a new combined-cycle generation unit will be constructed on a turnkey basis by an EPC-contractor selected through a tender. The contract will be carried out in consortium with Russia‚Äôs Power Engineering Group Energomachinostroitelny Alliance (EM Alliance).

Alstom, which will deliver a multi-shaft combined cycle unit comprising a GT 26 gas turbine, steam turbine, two generators, one heat recovery steam generator and the control system for the entire facility, will receive €170 million of the total euro 280 million contract.

EMAlliance will manage civil works and construction and will provide the balance of plant, including the cooling tower, electrical equipment, heat exchangers and piping for district heating system.

When commissioned in the second quarter of 2009 the new unit will increase capacity at the plant to 1,830 MW.
