Sungrow and Romanian energy solutions provider ENEVO Group have agreed a 1 GWh battery energy storage portfolio in Romania, marking one of the largest BESS contracts of its kind in the country to date. The partnership is set to strengthen grid‑scale storage capacity in a market where flexible, dispatchable power is increasingly central to integrating renewable generation.
Under the deal, the first phase comprises 440 MWh of grid‑scale projects ordered earlier in 2026, with delivery scheduled before December 2026. A second phase adds 560 MWh, taking the cumulated portfolio to more than 1 GWh once all projects are commissioned. All systems will be installed across Romania using Sungrow’s PowerTitan 2.0 liquid‑cooled battery energy storage system, which is designed for large‑scale grid support, frequency response and renewable firming.
Sungrow, a global supplier of PV inverters and ESS, said the order reflects growing demand for bankable, fully supported storage solutions in Europe’s emerging markets. The PowerTitan platform has already seen deployment in utility‑scale projects in the UK, Germany, Spain, Greece, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Cyprus and Bulgaria, giving the manufacturer a track record of high‑availability operation and local service support.
ENEVO, a Romanian energy solutions group active in generation, storage and grid integration services, is positioning the deal as a step toward expanding its role as a regional EPC contractor for large‑scale battery storage. Radu Brașoveanu, ENEVO’s CTO and co‑founder, said the partnership began in PV and has evolved into a broader strategic alliance centred on BESS‑renewables integration. James Li, Sungrow Europe’s Vice President responsible for ESS, highlighted the company’s commitment to front‑loaded engineering support, from design and delivery through commissioning and long‑term operation, to help ENEVO’s customers meet energy‑security and reliability targets.
The agreement underscores Romania’s growing importance in Europe’s storage project pipeline and reinforces Sungrow’s position as a top‑rated, bankable supplier in the PV and ESS space.
